I visited Kenya for the first time in October 2009. I was shocked to learn that in the very cosmopolitan city of Nairobi, some families still practice female genital mutilation. This is a barbaric practice in which a 12-year-old girl's genitals are cut so that she cannot feel sexual pleasure. Many women in Kenya have endured this practice, and some suffer from diseases and infections as a result. There is also rampant violence against women in Kenya, and in churches some women are not allowed to do anything but clean the floors. Thankfully many Christian women in Kenya are arising to their God-given places of destiny and influence.
