The Mordecai Project Newsletter
Girls’ Home / Tanuku, India
We are currently providing a safe and loving Christian environment for girls who have been abandoned because of their gender. The Mordecai House in Tanuku, Andhra Pradesh, offers food, clothing, education and affirmation to girls who deserve a chance to succeed in life. Our home is led by our project directors, Raja and Padma Undurthi.
You can help us by sponsoring a girl on a monthly basis. Your tax-deductible gift of $30 per month covers expenses for food, clothes, hygiene supplies and school fees.
Women’s Shelter / Barranquilla, Colombia
There is an epidemic of domestic violence in the city of Barranquilla. Many women are killed each year by their husbands, ex-husbands or boyfriends. We are in the process of setting up a safe house for women who are in crisis. Our home will offer protection for women and their children, as well as counseling, legal aid, and emotional and spiritual support. Our home in Barranquilla is directed by Dr. Nori Menendez, a trained psychologist who serves as Latin American director for The Mordecai Project.
Your tax-deductible donation to our Colombia project will help us cover the expenses of renting this home and caring for the women who stay there.
Women’s Shelter / Lilongwe, Malawi
Many women in Malawi suffer from physical, sexual and economic abuse. To make things worse, men consider abuse to be a normal part of life because of cultural traditions. We are currently working with a group of churches and ministries in the capital city of Lilongwe to establish a shelter for women who are in crisis, and a prominent leader in government has pledged support to help us.
Your tax-deductible donation will help us secure the facility and enable us to launch this project.
Women’s Shelter / "Casa de Ester" / Rio Hondo, Guatemala
In Guatemala, women suffer from a variety of issues including rape, gang rape, forced prostitution and domestic violence. In our shelter, victimes of abuse will find safety, a loving Christian environment, and counseling. In July 2014 we purchased the land for this shelter and we plan to build it over the course of the next year. We have also appointed directors, Eric and Ana Ester Paz, who are pastors of Iglesia Cristiana Nueva Vision on the community of Pata Galana, near Rio Hondo.
Your tax-deductible contribution will give us the needed funds to build the shelter and open it in 2015.
In early 2016 we began construction on Casa de Emanuél, a shelter for abused women that we will operate in the city of Tarapoto, Peru. In this photo you can see our directors, Teresa and David Gomez, who are pastors of Smyrna Church there. We still need to raise $20,000 to complete construction. When it is finished, the house will serve as a counseling center and residential shelter.
Bold Venture Discipleship Events
Since 2010, Lee Grady has hosted a series of three-day retreats to help train and disciple leaders. Separate events are held for men and for women, and in 2014 he hosted one for pastors. The retreats combine teaching, worship, small group interaction, intense prayer ministry and shared meals to create a unique environment that is deeply relational. The events are held regionally in the United States, and Lee has also sponsored Bold Venture retreats overseas. Your gift will help us give scholarships to college students and young leaders so they can attend.
